You can never have too many clamps! The body is glued up and ready for storage. Jonathan and Grandpa will be back on it in a few days.

Two cutouts of 3/4” plywood, layered and glued, will make the 1.5” thick body.

Jonathan started his guitar project with Grandpa Denny today. He’s building his own electric guitar. They made great progress, getting the body shape cut and glued.

One measure of pandemic recovery—my inability to keep up with the grass. All of a sudden, I’m struggling. It’s really long right now, and I won’t have time to cut it until late tonight. We’ve got too many things going on.

Teddy had obedience class tonight. He did fairly well with the tasks, but was a bit of a goofball overall, playing the class clown to some degree. One more class to go—I’ll miss these, and I think he will too.

It’s been almost a year since I moved to the new firm, but I still feel like I’m getting used to the place. The physical place—the office. We had some storms roll through today and it felt like the first time I had seen that from this view. I don’t know if it is or not, but it felt new to me. And it was actually nice, too. Rain on the river.

It’s a beautiful Sunday morning. Renee and I are out on the patio with Teddy, drinking coffee and chilling.

Today marked the first time we went to Costco since the mask mandate was lifted on June 2nd. Renee and I both decided to go maskless—we’ve said “follow the science” through this whole thing, and post-vaccination should probably be the culmination of that. It was weird at first, almost felt like we forgot something. It didn’t take long to get used to it though. Not many other people were wearing a mask, either (I’d day less than 10% of shoppers).

The graveside service for Grandma Phyl was truly beautiful today. Perfect weather, and short and sweet. Each of us took a rose from her casket as we left. I miss her, but have really enjoyed celebrating her life and reflecting on some wonderful memories over the last few days.

The river was fairly calm when I got into the office this morning, and it was really nice outside. So, I dropped my backpack on my chair and went down to the docks right away to grab a few pics. I love this view looking through the MLK bridge (Cherry St. Bridge) at the High Level Bridge and Owens Corning headquarters. What a great way to start the month of June.

RIP Grandma Phyl

My grandma passed away today. At 95, she was my last living grandparent; her passing is the end of a generation in my family.

As a grandmother, she was nothing short of incredible. She and my grandfather, who passed 15 years ago or so, spoiled all of their grandkids. Shopping for school clothes, giving us free reign at “the lake,” and taking us to movies our parents didn’t want us to see. She really was great.

I had a fairly idyllic childhood, and I owe a lot of that to her.

Rest In Peace, grandma Phyl.

“Her Siri, what’s the weather in St. Pete Beach today?”

Yep…it’s about time to get back to the beach.

Ironically, though, it’s going to be warmer at home than down in SPB today.

Opening the pool is always a little scary—you never know what the water will look like when you peel back the cover. I’ve seen everything from pea green to pitch black, which is the worst case scenario.

I was pleasantly surprised when I took the cover off today. Good color, just a bit cloudy. I think a healthy dose of shock and some ‘round the clock filtration for a few days should get us in working order.

A good old-fashioned ejection in tonight’s Indians came. And a second for good measure. Haven’t seen a good manager-ump shouting match in quite some time.

The roller coaster of Spring in the Midwest continues. We had 85 degrees and full sun today. It was actually quite hot! We took Teddy over the Debbie’s house to play with Finn and Parker. Finn opted to stay behind on the porch most of the time, letting me capture this shot of him through the table.
