¶Columbia will forevermore be compared to Harvard for its response to Trump’s attacks. Columbia caved, while Harvard planned to fight, stood its ground when the attack came, and then started punching.
¶Our connection to Harvard is a thin one (our son is an alum), but we’ve never been more proud to have it.

¶Ted’s Hamburger Shop was a staple in downtown Toledo for decades. I’ve always thought it’s a shame the Shop didn’t make it into the recent revitalization that has arrived in downtown. I’ve also wondered why the building hasn’t been demolished. I imagine someone just doesn’t have the heart to do it.

¶I decided to snap some shots with the PowerShot on the way into the office this morning. The camera did a nice job of capturing the beauty of this morning.

¶Jake and I resurrected a couple of old Canon PowerShot SD780 IS cameras over the weekend. They’re old point and shoot cameras from about 2008 or so. Jake said his friends have been using old point and shoots as their primary cameras and he wanted to give it a go. So, I ordered a battery charger from Amazon and away we go. Meanwhile, I learned about CDHK, the Canon Hack Development Kit, which enables RAW shooting and some other amazing features. So…I’m going to start having some fun with that.

¶It looks like we’re in for a good ole-fashioned, April all-day soaker today. I’m not upset…should make for a nice relaxing Saturday. I’m planning to shoot some more shell photos this afternoon. I’ll probably process them while watching the Guardians game later this afternoon.

¶Let’s go Walleye! We’re at Game 2 of the first round playoff series between the Walleye and Indy Fuel. Walleye are up 1-0 after last night’s game, which, apparently, was a little chippy. Let’s see what tonight brings!

¶The game was fantastic, too. The Rays struggled to create any offense for most of the game, falling behind 0-2 by the sixth inning. They finally got to the Rockies pitchers in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game (and leaving the bases loaded). Late pitching bent but didn’t break, and Kameron Misner hit a walk off home run on literally the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Rays.
¶I think that’s the first MLB walk off win I’ve ever witnessed in person.

¶The statute of George Steinbrenner outside the stadium appears to be life-sized, which is sort of odd. Makes it feel small, but maybe that’s the point.

¶The Yankees logo loomed large over a walkway to the side of the main entrance, but Yankees branding was otherwise barely visible. The Rays did a great job of making the place their own.

¶We went to the Rays Opening Day game today. Hurricane damage to Tropicana Field has the team playing at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa this year. It’s a little strange, for sure, but also kind of awesome. It’s a very small stadium, which created a unique vibe for a MLB game.

¶We’re doing something today that Renee and I have wanted to do for a long time — taking the ferry the Shell Island Preserve. It’s supposed to have great shelling, no surprise. We’re on the ferry now.
