¶This will be a force multiplier for Tesla and EV’s in general. I’ve driven a Model 3 for three years now, and have learned that people have a combination of hesitancy and curiosity about EV’s in general. But, once they actually drive that car — with its pep and the self driving features — they’re generally sold on the idea. Renting a Model 3 on a vacation (or even on a staycation) may be the best test drive Tesla could give potential customers.

¶Former Federal Circuit Chief Judge Michel is still fighting the good fight, now working to open people’s eyes to Big Tech’s assault on our patent system and to recruit people to the battle. I miss having him his voice on the bench, with his ardent support for the system as a whole. I think his voice is more valuable on the outside these days, though, writing things like this.

¶“Facebook is planning to change its company name next week to reflect its focus on building the metaverse....The coming name change…is meant to signal the tech giant’s ambition to be known for more than social media and all the ills that entail.”
¶I’m not sure that an effort to focus on the metaverse will help Facebook’s real branding challenge — the distrust people have for the company. Telling people that the company is “bigger than social media” and wants to “build the metaverse” will probably hurt the level of trust people have for Facebook, not help it. Especially when so many people have no idea what the “metaverse” is. It does sound scary and all-encompassing, though.

¶This seems like a great way to get environmental issues in front of American consumers. It’s not without risk, though, and could backfire. Plastic products are essentially invisible to the experience now. If the substitutes are somehow inferior (warm beer, anyone?), they may negatively impact the experience of going to a game, and fans will notice. Here’s hoping all goes well.
