Truth, filtered and downcased

”…when all the painting’s done, it’ll be the largest artwork of its kind in the country. It’s called the Glass City River Wall.”

This is a great story about a pretty cool thing happening in my hometown — a massive art installation that was born from a simple idea.

Looks like Trump’s media/tech company “filed for trademarks on ‘Truthing,’ ‘Retruth,’ ‘Post a Truth’ and ‘Follow the Truth.’”

Using “truth” in a trademark, while prohibiting disparagement of himself (see #23 on the site’s Terms of Use) is very on brand for Trump.

Hilariously, the Terms of Use for Trump’s new social media site expressly indicate that users agree not to “transmit…excessive use of capital letters” (#20) and not to “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us and/or the Site.” (#23)

I wonder how long it will take Trump to post his first, ALL CAPS disparagement on the site.

A truth, according to Merriam-Webster, is “a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true.”

The following propositions are true.

Trump has lied.

Trump is a liar.

Trump plans to launch a social media platform called Truth Social.

According to the Terms of Use for Truth Social, users are prohibited from disparaging his company.

The Terms of Use for Truth Social do not prohibit disparagement of others.

My last post included several truths. By definition, I posted a truth. Indeed, I posted several truths.

The phrase “post a truth” describes exactly what I did with that last post. I posted a truth.

Just saying.

Some Was True is my corner of the web for publishing observations and commentary on various topics I find interesting. I use the process of creating and publishing content to learn about everything from history and tech to sports and culture. The About page has more information about the background of the site and details on how content is organized.
