¶Yes. Yes I am.
¶Getting my second COVID booster shot this morning. I’ve got the first appointment of the day, but I could have any time I wanted—every single time slot was available when I scheduled it online last night.
¶At 52, I’ve been eligible for my second booster for some time now. I waited, though, waiting for signs of another surge and hoping to maximize the window during which it gives me elevated antibody levels. A bit of a game, I know, but not entirely without merit. As an immunologist, I bank more on long term memory and the T-cell response, but feel I might as well try to leverage the “sugar high” of an antibody surge.
¶The pharmacist let me leave right after the shot; she made no mention of a waiting period. So, I’m now sitting in my car in the parking lot for a self-imposed fifteen minute watch period.

¶Jake and I are down at Tiffin Airport this morning for his written pilot license exam. I’m hanging out with the two airport dogs while Jake is cranking away in the back.

¶Denny had never seen the Blue Angels live before. I think he really enjoyed it, and I think Renee had a lot of fun seeing it with him.
¶I looked over at them right after I heard the announcer mention the Delta Breakout maneuver was coming next, and was lucky to catch them watching it together.
¶I love this photo.
¶I’m not sure if this qualifies as a true Delta Breakout–I think the full maneuver usually has the sixth plane coming straight through, directly at us in the photo. I think they only had five in this maneuver, which was no less impressive.

¶The setup for the Thunder Over Michigan show works really well. All parking is right in front of the main field and you stay at your car for the show. They space the cars to leave a sitting area for each family next to their own car. The view is great, but your car is always available to provide a higher vantage point!

¶The Blue Angels never disappoint. Seeing these maneuvers directly in front of you is always heart-pounding. Truly amazing.

¶I was a little mad at myself for not bringing my dSLR. I was rushed a bit and didn’t prepare as I should have, which forced me to shoot the entire show on my iPhone (12 Pro Max).
¶I was pleasantly surprised at how well it performed, though. I know the limits of the phone when I shoot with it, but encountered a new one today–heat. The phone overheated a few times, dimming the display and making shooting all but impossible.
¶Live and learn. I’ll definitely be better prepared for next year’s show.
¶I’m still pretty happy with the results, though!

¶I need to set it up so I can post today stream from my watch. I know what I’m gonna do today.
¶It would be nice if drafts had actions available on the watch. Doesn’t look like that’s the case though. I think I’ll be able to create some combination of tags that, once synced to my phone, would trigger a posting action. I’ll explore that.

¶Chattanooga, Tennessee. First time I’ve entered a supercharger lot to find no empty spaces. I’m sure that will become more frequent in the (near?) future. It really wasn’t a big deal—a charger opened after just a few minutes. So now we’re happily sitting at the Chattanooga airport watching planes come and go as we charge.
¶And it’s raining, too.

¶Our stop in McDonough, Georgia included a detour to the supercharger. Construction had the overpass blocked, so we had to drive 10 minutes out of the way or so to circle back to the station, which created a dilemma - follow the detour or go to the next station, 30 miles away? We circled back.
