When the chair was originally commissioned by King Edward I in the early 1300s, its primary purpose was to house the monarch’s newly acquired Stone of Scone (pronounced “skoon”). The 300-pound rock had previously been in Scotland’s possession, whose monarchy had used it as a throne for hundreds of years — though some legends date it as far back as Biblical times.

Of course there’s a centuries-old special chair. And a stone. And of course they pronounce “Stone of Scone” as “Stone of Skoon.”

I think the engineers that designed the battery and charger for our new electric lawnmower took design cues from Boba Fett. I kind of dig it.

60 minutes run time is…less than accurate, I would say. But, I’m still liking the new electric mower.

“For the majority of residents who own single family homes, it’s going to be all electric, all day long,” said Daniel Mabe, founder and president of the American Green Zone Alliance.

Electric vehicles are the obvious elephant in the room when it comes to gas-powered engines. But, once you think of all the lawnmowers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, snowblowers, and other small equipment out there, it’s easy to see that, collectively, they could be a bigger deal.

And the shift to electric for the lawn is well underway—a visit to an big box store this spring revealed that. All are stacked to the ceiling with electric mowers and trimmers.

We bought our first electric mower this year. I mostly love it. The battery claims are bullshit, of course. It doesn’t even come close to the range listed on the box. My thick lawn and the wet conditions we’ve had so far are probably not the conditions they used to test the battery to support those claims, but I don’t think my lawn is much different than most. But, it’s no big deal. I just break the job up a bit, and will likely buy a second battery someday.

Basically what we’re trying to do is amplify what’s considered good behavior and then de-amplify what’s considered bad behavior.

Sounds good. But, um, ‘considered’ by whom?

[C]hecking their account, they’re not only tweeting like nothing’s happened, they’ve just started to upload Bee Movie onto their account. And honestly, that may just be the most Twitter thing to happen out of this whole ordeal.

Twitter took down the boosts with the Mario Bros movie, but apparently didn’t lock or limit the poster’s account, allowing them to post another movie. I checked the account right after reading this article and, sure enough, the two most recent tweets included The Bee Movie, split into two parts.

Apparently lack of consequences for copyright infringement is another perk of a Twitter Blue subscription.

[Jerry] Jones has been part of more than 30 drafts as the team’s owner and general manager. He has presided over No. 1 overall picks and a number of high-level trades. “I’ve never had an experience like that in the draft room. Ever,” Jones said.

This is a pretty cool story. Randy Scott on ESPN SportsCenter summed up my thoughts on it pretty well: “Don’t you make me like the Cowboys…don’t you dare humanize that star.”

I’m looking out my office window at the MLK bridge over the Maumee River. It’s cold and raining. Looks miserable outside. There’s a bird perched on the bridge abutment, seemingly unbothered by the weather. She (he?) is huddled just enough under the bridge to stay dry, yet is still able to watch the rain falling on the river. It’s just sitting there, watching the rain. Maybe it’s enjoying the peacefulness of the scene as much as I am.

Great reminder that even on a gloomy day, there’s still beauty to be found in the world around us.

CEO Mary Barra also announced that GM will stop building the electric Chevrolet Bolt hatchback and small SUV by the end of this year. The Bolt is now GM’s top selling EV, but the plant north of Detroit that builds it is being converted to make electric trucks.

Transitioning to electric vehicles is weird. GM is killing the Bolt, its current best-selling EV. Why? Trucks, of course. It makes sense…it’s just weird.

Save the bees. And the moths.

People who live near the Bad Axe, Mich., area may hear and see fighter jets between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.. The jets may be in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft, which will be taking on the role of a potential threat in the exercise.

Jake thought about joining the Civil Air Patrol. They gave a great presentation at BGSU a few months back - “we do all sorts of cool things, like help with logistics after hurricanes, floods, etc....you get flight hours on the government’s dime.”

They didn’t mention “taking on the role of a potential threat” in F-16 training exercises.

Thaler told the Supreme Court that AI is being used to innovate in fields ranging from medicine to energy, and that rejecting AI-generated patents “curtails our patent system’s ability - and thwarts Congress’s intent - to optimally stimulate innovation and technological progress.”

Congress can change this at any time. I bet we’ll have Congressional hearings on AI inventorship over the next few years, which will be fascinating. For me, at least.

Jake and I sat in the lobby for a few minutes after dinner. The Red Room–off one side of the lobby–was packed for a live jazz performance while the Centennial–off the opposite side of the lobby–was empty, but staged for a wedding (tomorrow, I’m sure). We essentially had the lobby to ourselves (one guy sat across from us, waiting for his wife, and a couple people spilled out of the Red Room). The lobby picture posted today captures the scene visually. Neat moment, and some great live jazz.
