¶Renee and I are on our annual-ish shopping trip. Outlet mall in Howell, Michigan. Everything in one place, with crazy deals. I don’t know why people buy clothes any other way.

¶Renee and I had some quality time with Jake tonight, which was wonderful. He flew earlier in the day, working on some instrument flying. So proud of him!

¶Jake and I sat in the lobby for a few minutes after dinner. The Red Room–off one side of the lobby–was packed for a live jazz performance while the Centennial–off the opposite side of the lobby–was empty, but staged for a wedding (tomorrow, I’m sure). We essentially had the lobby to ourselves (one guy sat across from us, waiting for his wife, and a couple people spilled out of the Red Room). The lobby picture posted today captures the scene visually. Neat moment, and some great live jazz.

¶‘[He would] sit and watch Fox News all day every day blaring in his living room. And I think that stuff really kind of reinforces this negative view of minority groups.’
¶He’s not alone in his immersion in that cycle, I’m afraid. I think many people drown in it daily, unfortunately. Many from that generation in particular.
¶Fox News. All day. Every day. Blaring.
¶Yep, that’s happening all over the country right now.

¶The A’s had been looking for a new home for years to replace the outdated and run-down Oakland Coliseum, where the team has played since arriving from Kansas City for the 1968 season. They had sought to build a stadium in Fremont and San Jose before shifting their attention to the Oakland waterfront.
¶There has been some debate over whether Tropicana Field or the Oakland Coliseum is the worst stadium in baseball. Both are certainly worthy of the title. But now it looks like we’re set to see a race between the two teams that call those stadiums home, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Oakland A’s, to open new ballparks. The A’s will likely win that on paper if expected timelines play out . But, regardless of who wins between the two, the more interesting thing to watch is maybe this—the Rays and A’s are likely to go from worst to first over the next few years with the opening of the two newest stadiums in the game.

¶Ms Sleginam…was reported to police by three other visitors at the cafe.
¶To me, that quote is the scariest aspect of this story. Sure, the censorship laws are horrible and the willingness of the system to apply them to an elderly woman commenting on Zelensky’s attractiveness, a completely subjective topic, is ridiculous. But, the fact that people were willing to “report” the situation to police in the first place is scary as hell. It shows that the law and enforcement system have a foothold, regardless of how horrible and ridiculous it is.
¶That is scary.

¶This is interesting. Sounds like the magazine didn’t hide the fact that the interview was AI generated (although they likely deemphasized it). The magazine essentially used Schumacher’s name and his likeness without his permission. I suspect they’ll regret the “deceptively real” descriptor.
