¶We woke to a beautiful pastel sky this morning. It feels a little disingenuous though, as we supposed to have rain (and even some snow!) later this afternoon.

¶I just cut the grass for the first time this year. I’m already behind. It was so long that I had to put the mower on the highest settings, which means I’ll get to cut it again in a few days. Spring has definitely sprung!

¶I completed a pretty major update to Daystream last night. I’ve been working on upgrading to Rails 7 over the last couple weeks and, while doing that, decided to switch from Bootstrap to Tailwind CSS. Last night I pushed everything to production.
¶Getting Rails 7 to work on Elastic Beanstalk is far simpler than the process for doing so for Rails 6. And deleting node and yarn from the process felt way better than I expected.
¶And I’m loving the flexibility Tailwind provides. There’s still a lot to do on the design front, including a lot of cleanup, but the Tailwind’s approach to CSS is more logical to me and, dare I say, has me excited about improving the design of the site.
¶So, the work continues.

¶Jake sat in the row behind Renee and me on our flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles, which gave me an opportunity for an interesting angle on my now traditional photo of him looking out the window as we fly. Here I caught him glancing at the first signs of land with the last bit of sunset still visible as we started our approach into LAX. I just love watching him watch anything to do with flying.

¶We hiked the Lanikai pillbox trail today. It was supposed to be a simple or beginner hike, but, after completing it, we collectively decided it’s definitely a hike of moderate difficulty! We made it to both pillboxes and the views didn’t disappoint. Here we’re standing aside the first of the two pillboxes.

¶Atmosphere, people, food, and drink—dinner tonight hit the mark in every category. Without even a hint of exaggeration, our dinner at Lahaina Grill tonight was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Maybe even the best ever. I had the Monchong, btw, which was phenomenal. And two Macallan 15’s.
