Baseball announcing is different than announcing in other sports. Normally I hate a Homer announcer. Not in baseball. I actually prefer announcers that are clearly affiliated with (and supportive of) one of the teams playing. They know the players better, the players are more willing to talk with them, etc.
I still want objectivity, though, and criticism. And I definitely don’t want the team to force an announcer to be an extreme Homer…essentially banning any commentary that is critical of the team. This suspension (?) of an announcer by the Orioles owner is beyond ridiculous.
